Day 01

Airport > Colombo

Welcome to Sri Lanka! Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, you will be met by an iTourlanka representative and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. There, you can sample local favourites like pol sambol (a tasty coconut dish) and roast paan (crispy roasted bread).

Day 02

Colombo > Sigiriya

Begin your Sri Lankan journey with breakfast at the hotel. Before heading out, we advise our tourists to shop in the morning so that you are able to enjoy the smells and sounds of Colombo.

After shopping, we will head to the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage to learn about the country’s wildlife. The orphanage is home to the largest population of captive elephants, and here you can watch them interact with their environment as they feed and bathe in the Ma Oya River.

After this, we will bring you to the cave temple in Polonnaruwa containing the best examples of ancient Sri Lankan paintings, including over 150 images of the Buddha, which impress visitors with their variety and scale. The most famous painting is a colossal figure of Buddha carved out of rock, which spans 14 meters.

Day 03

Sigiriya > Kandy

After breakfast, we continue our sightseeing tours to Sigiriya. Our first stop is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. On top of a massive rock that juts out of the golden fields like a stony fortress, the 5th Century Fortress in the Sky (Sigiriya Rock) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sri Lanka. WE will do this in the morning as crowds tend to be there during the afternoon. After we finish exploring the fortress we head to the central province of the country, Kandy, and visit the Spice Garden – where we gain insights on how these spices are grown on such a large scale.

Day 04

Kandy > Nuwara Eliya

After departing Kandy, take an early morning ride to Nuwara Eliya. But before that, you can stop by and visit Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist site, the Dalada Maligawa. Located in the heart of Kandy, the temple is a place where pilgrims come to worship, and visitors may observe the rituals that take place around the Temple of the Tooth.

As you travel through the tea plantations, take a detour for a Kandy City tour and visit either the Royal Botanical Garden, Kandy View Point, and the Buddha Statue.

After that, you will now go to the heart of tea plantation country, Nuwara Eliya. It is one of the highest regions in Sri Lanka. During colonial times, the English and Scots favoured this region because it was cooler than other parts of the island. You can see remnants of this past today in the manicured gardens and manor homes that adorn the city.

We will be heading to Ella now, a small town in the Badulla District of Uva Province. The area is known for its rich biodiversity, and is home to numerous varieties of flora and fauna. Surrounded by hills covered with cloud forests and tea plantations, Ella is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular tourist destinations.

Later in the day, we will be heading for a Jeep Safari in Yala National Park. Yala is one of the most popular safari destinations in Sri Lanka.
