About Minneriya
Located in the heart of Sri Lanka, the Minneriya National Park is the nation’s largest national park. It was designated as a national park on August 12, 1997, and is best known for its population of elephants. The park is home to about 80% of the elephants in Sri Lanka, making it an important feeding ground for the animals that live in forests in Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Trincomalee districts.
